NSA Recruiter Grabs Student’s Phone to Stop him from Recording

So a National Security Agency recruiter named “Neal Z.” was manning a booth a University of New Mexico job fair when he was confronted by two students with cameras who began interrogating him about the agency’s spying tactics.

It began with one student accusing the NSA of collecting metadata of all phone calls within the United States, which Neal Z. first denied.

But when the student assured him that the NSA does do this, Neal Z. relented and admitted that it was done under the “legal authority” of the secret FISA court (United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court).

The student then pointed out that a congressional panel determined that the collecting of metadata from U.S. phone calls was illegal and unconstitutional as Neal Z. tried to remain smug while displaying a wide-eyed paranoia that this kid knew too much.

“So why is it legal to collect information on every American citizen?” the student asked.

Neal Z. tried to brush him with off by saying, “you don’t understand what that collection is all about and if you don’t leave soon, I’m going to call the university security to get you out of my face.”

UNCHECKED! No state or federal intervention at all!

You telling me NOBODY in this country has the authority to put an end to this?

Nobody has the power to dismantle this oppressive police force who has consistently violated the civil rights of these Black people publicly for an entire month?

Fuck everything!

Dat bold.

Like, why the fuck is this STILL going on?

WHY has everybody harboring Darren Wilson not also been brought up on fucking charges?

Colorful demonstrations and weekend marches are vital but alone are not powerful enough to stop wars. Wars will be stopped only when soldiers refuse to fight, when workers refuse to load weapons onto ships and aircraft, when people boycott the economic outposts of Empire that are strung across the globe.

HE HANDED THAT SHIT TO HIMMMMM

Farrakhan does not fear man. Amen.

DANM!!

I think this make the 10th time ive reblogged this

amazing

I was raised being told that Louis Farrakhan and men like him were dangerous and awful people; and seeing things like this has helped me to understand why my father and men like him think that.

As much as I may disagree with him sometimes, he is an incredibly intelligent, insightful, well-spoken, clever, and charismatic man. I admire him, despite what I disagree with.

The Surveillance Engine: How the NSA Built Its Own Secret Google By Ryan Gallagher | The Intercept

The National Security Agency is secretly providing data to nearly two dozen U.S. government agencies with a “Google-like” search engine built to share more than 850 billion records about phone calls, emails, cellphone locations, and internet chats, according to classified documents obtained by The Intercept.

The documents provide the first definitive evidence that the NSA has for years made massive amounts of surveillance data directly accessible to domestic law enforcement agencies. Planning documents for ICREACH, as the search engine is called, cite the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration as key participants.

ICREACH contains information on the private communications of foreigners and, it appears, millions of records on American citizens who have not been accused of any wrongdoing. Details about its existence are contained in the archive of materials provided to The Intercept by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Earlier revelations sourced to the Snowden documents have exposed a multitude of NSA programs for collecting large volumes of communications. The NSA has acknowledged that it shares some of its collected data with domestic agencies like the FBI, but details about the method and scope of its sharing have remained shrouded in secrecy.

ICREACH has been accessible to more than 1,000 analysts at 23 U.S. government agencies that perform intelligence work, according to a 2010 memo. A planning document from 2007 lists the DEA, FBI, Central Intelligence Agency, and the Defense Intelligence Agency as core members. Information shared through ICREACH can be used to track people’s movements, map out their networks of associates, help predict future actions, and potentially reveal religious affiliations or political beliefs.

The creation of ICREACH represented a landmark moment in the history of classified U.S. government surveillance, according to the NSA documents.

“The ICREACH team delivered the first-ever wholesale sharing of communications metadata within the U.S. Intelligence Community,” noted a top-secret memo dated December 2007. “This team began over two years ago with a basic concept compelled by the IC’s increasing need for communications metadata and NSA’s ability to collect, process and store vast amounts of communications metadata related to worldwide intelligence targets.”

The search tool was designed to be the largest system for internally sharing secret surveillance records in the United States, capable of handling two to five billion new records every day, including more than 30 different kinds of metadata on emails, phone calls, faxes, internet chats, and text messages, as well as location information collected from cellphones.

Yesterday, State of Emergency was declared in Hamburg

As anti-government protests rage across the German city of Hamburg, German police have increased their stop, search and arrest powers in so called ‘danger zones’ in the city’s Altona, Sankt Pauli and Stemschanze districts after a far-left group attacked a police station last week. Hamburg has established a so-called danger zone giving police the right to stop and search people. Critics warn it’s an infringement of rights.

Day 4 of Block the Boat for Gaza! Israeli ZIM Ship Blocked & Gone!

August 19, 2014

For four days straight the San Francisco Bay Area community blocked the Israeli ZIM ship from unloading at the Port of Oakland. And today, we salute the rank and file of ILWU for standing with us against Israeli Apartheid by honoring our pickets and letting the ship go from the SSA terminal this afternoon!

Saturday we mobilized thousands of our community to show the world that Oakland does not welcome racism, apartheid or Zionism, from Ferguson to Palestine. We flooded the streets and marched towards the Port only to discover that the ZIM ship decided to stay at Bay rather than dock and be confronted by the power of our numbers. The ship attempted to dock and unload on Sunday, but within a half hour’s time hundreds of us organized community pickets requesting that ILWU to stand with us on the side of justice and not unload the Apartheid ship. And as ILWU always has, and as they did during South African Apartheid, they demonstrated their solidarity with the global fight against oppression and honored our picket. Once again on Monday, and then on Tuesday morning, community pickets coupled with worker solidarity stopped the ZIM ship from unloading.

Today we declare a historic victory for Palestine as Oakland held down the longest ever blockade of an Israeli ship. Not only did we block the boat, but we also showed the world that racist exclusionary state of Apartheid Israel has no place on our port, and will soon find that it has no place on any port on the West Coast.

Oakland feels firsthand the brutality of Israeli war-making. And Palestine knows too well the role the US plays in facilitating the ongoing ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian people. From the policing and militarization of our local communities perfected with Israeli tactics of repression to the billions that the US provides Apartheid Israel, the connections are clear and are made for us. And over the last four days we showed the world that we stand shoulder to shoulder from Palestine to Oakland to Ferguson as we struggle bring down every wall, every apartheid system and every racist state.

Palestine will be free.

Editor’s Note: I personally know people who MADE this happen in the subsequent days after the initial blockade. Cheers go out to them. Amazing people! This is a victory, but the ship is now headed to LA to port. It must be blocked there too.
